A hotline against loneliness for elderly people

Silbernetz  (“silver net”) is a low-threshold, three-tiered offer for elderly people and offers companionship, information and advice.

It consists of the hotline “silver phone” – confidential, anonymous and free of charge, lonely people can call the number 0800 4 70 80 90 within Germany and always find an open ear.

Then there ist the Silver Network; volunteers are partnered up with older people and call  “their” elderly friend on a regular basis, chatting with him/her, encouraging him/her or sharing vital information, e.g. about the latest developments during the Covid-crisis.

The final building block of the project is the “Silver Info”, which connects older people to educational, meeting and participation formats as well as local services in their area.
