Usually, FUBiS – Freie Universität Berlin International Summer and Winter University – welcomes around 600 students from all over the world for a 3-to-6-week short-term program at Freie Universität Berlin.
This year everything is different, and FUBiS offers to ALL interested persons free introductory lessons and live German lessons as part of a free public lecture series, as well as online courses with the possibility of ECTS credit transfer.
The FUBiS online program includes offerings in the fields of sociology, art history, history, political science, economics, philosophy, and German.
Welcome by the Program Director:
This nuanced approach is addressed to a wide range of international students, who we know are dealing with the current crisis in many different ways and have different needs and preferences, as well as possibly guidelines from their home universities as to how and if a short-term study abroad experience is feasible for them this year.
This offer is also addressing all other interested persons. Whether you want to reorient yourself, complement or refresh knowledge, or simply want to explore new subjects – all of you are very welcome within this program. Especially in times of Corona, this might be persons in various life situations. Everyone can benefit – students, refugees, retirees, and anyone interested in further training. Participation in the lecture series is free of charge and open to the public. Participants in the online courses that are offered at a substantial discount can receive a sought-after certificate of Freie Universität Berlin as well as ECTS credits.
With this new online offering we are also making the world of study abroad programs more accessible to those groups who have not had the possibility to participate in the past for various reasons: single parents, students with limited financial resources, persons not able to travel – be it for health reasons or because of visa restrictions.
